In
1991, the Canadian AIDS Society launched AIDS Awareness Week to
inform the public about HIV /AIDS and to support the efforts of
AIDS Service Organizations in communities throughout Canada.
This
year the campaign, which is being spearheaded by the Canadian
HIV/AIDS Information Centre, goes beyond increasing awareness.
This year's theme of stigma and discrimination challenges us and
our communities to examine attitudes about HIV/AIDS. It is time,
not only to talk about HIV/AIDS, but also to take action and work
toward the elimination of HIV/AIDS-related prejudice and discrimination.
Join together with AIDS organizations throughout the world and
add your voice; share your story.
