One Colour of the Rainbow
Val-Ann
Everyone in the same room.
The air seemed thick and heavy and yet lighter than usual.
Because of things unspoken
Because of everything difficult on peoples minds and every
funny happy thing she would say.
It was time, a long time coming, about time
For her to die
Using drugs. Living lonely. Holding always to the thought that
she would quit.
Get clean. Get a little healthier
But not. Had AIDS. Gave us sadness and confusion
And beauty and talent. A sense of humour and
charm. She was so likeable and loveable.
She was the ultimate fighter
Gave us love and laughter.
Had a positive impact from an impossible space.
Definitely left an impression on me and so I
thought of her as a colour of the rainbow.
But realized she was not that.
She was ALL the colours of the rainbow
and shes going home.
